China Eastern is ready to launch a direct Geneva-Shanghai service four times a week from 16 June.
Genève Aéroport is delighted with the forthcoming arrival of China Eastern, which is due to launch a direct Geneva - Shanghai service from 16 June 2025, subject to approval by the relevant authorities. These flights are scheduled to operate four times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with a departure from Geneva at 12:00 and an expected flight time of 11:30. Take-off from Shanghai is scheduled for 1:30 am on the same days, with arrival in Geneva at 7:50 am.
China Eastern is a member of SkyTeam and has a fleet of nearly 700 aircraft, making it one of China's three leading airlines.
This direct link from Geneva to China's leading economic city will help to intensify relations between the two countries, both economically and in terms of tourism.
The year 2024 has already shown strong growth in visitors from China to Switzerland and neighbouring France, and this trend is set to continue. There are also significant economic exchanges and freight potential between French-speaking Switzerland and the Shanghai region.
The two Chinese metropolises live
This new service will complement the existing route between Geneva and Beijing (Air China) and will make Geneva the only Swiss airport with direct links to China's two main cities.
The launch of these flights is still subject to approval by the relevant authorities.
