The Casa dos Curumins Association is a non-profit civil society organisation with no religious or party affiliations.
Casa dos Curumins promotes the socio-cultural inclusion of socially vulnerable children, adolescents, young people and the elderly in the south of São Paulo - Brazil, through recreational, educational, cultural, environmental, musical, artistic and sporting activities.

The Association works to ensure that children and young people can be the protagonists of their lives, contributing to the construction of a fairer and more egalitarian world, aiming for full citizenship for low-income populations, in a transparent and sustainable way.

What makes Casa dos Curumins different?

The philanthropic association Casa dos Curumins is a simple, transparent and extremely concrete project, driven by love. We connect people in the fight to eradicate poverty and the human and environmental degradation that characterises life in communities. Casa dos Curumins has become a big family. With the support of our friends and partners, we invest in transforming the lives of children and young people, offering healthy and beautiful environments so that they can thrive fully. We empower young people so that they can create lasting change in their own lives and in their communities. By investing in children together, we have the opportunity to create real and lasting change in families and communities, as well as in our own lives. The House welcomes children as young as 4 months, young people and teenagers into its projects, and also offers activities for senior citizens.

    The story

The Casa dos Curumins Association was founded in 2005 by Swiss-Brazilian couple Alberto and Adriana Eisenhardt with the aim of providing a concrete response to overcoming poverty, injustice and social inequality, which relegate millions of children and young people to the margins of Brazilian society who, due to a lack of opportunities and education, can hardly achieve their dreams, even the simplest ones.

After an intense and rich experience in the Pedreira community, where in 2002 Alberto Eisenhardt, a film-maker, made the documentary "Take Me in Memory" for Italian-language Swiss television (RSI), the first collaborations began with the educators of the young people featured in the documentary. The next step was the creation of the Casa dos Curumins Association in 2005 and, in 2010, the presence in São Paulo of Adriana and Alberto, who began to manage the Association's projects, seeking new partnerships and broadening the fields of action to respond to the demands and interests of the young people and the community.

The Association has thus expanded its work, which was initially aimed at 80 children and teenagers in the after-school programme, and today welcomes 500 children and young people and provides assistance to their families. The House also offers choral singing, dancing, gymnastics and cultural outings to more than 100 elderly people.

    How can you support?

This month you can support activities in Brazil by buying delicious panettone and pandoro from the Association, or wines produced by Valsangiacomo Vini of Mendrisio for the Casa dos Curumins. For all information and requests, write to Adriana Eisenhardt at casadoscurumins@gmail.com
